From pivot to purpose.
Three years. Three defining chapters. This is how I went from almost giving up to building two companies — and why the journey is embedded in every product I help you build.
I'm Dr. Lai Wee Ting — PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, WIPO Gold Medal inventor, co-holder of 20+ international patents, and founder of Dr. Weeting Solutions and Vinova Sciences. I specialise in closing the gap between validated science and a product that actually sells — for clinic owners, food entrepreneurs, and supplement brands who are tired of watching that gap cost them money every single month.
"If you know someone with a great product but stuck in process, shelf life, or market barriers — refer them to me."
— Dr. Wee Ting Lai · Featured Presentation · Aug 2025Most products fail not because the science is wrong — but because the path to market is fragmented. I close that gap. Here is exactly who I work with and what I do for them.
You have spent 5–15 years building clinical credibility. Your patients trust your judgment completely. They spend RM150–RM400 monthly on supplements and skincare — just not yours. Every week you send them home without a product that continues their treatment. That gap is the opportunity I work in. I build the science-backed product system your existing patients will buy — NPRA-registered, clinically positioned, generating RM15,000–RM50,000 monthly in new product revenue within 6 months.

"My philosophy is simple: Learn faster. Seek insights. Copy shamelessly. The best solutions already exist somewhere — the skill is knowing where to look, and how to apply them to your specific challenge without losing what makes your product worth building."
I completed my PhD in Bioprocess Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia, specialising in food science and biomaterials. In the years that followed, I co-invented 20+ patents with Dr. Nicholas Khong Mun Hoe — and discovered that patents sitting in a drawer help nobody.
The real gap was never scientific. It was commercial. Most founders with great ideas — and most scientists with real innovation — get stranded between the lab and the market. Formulation without regulatory strategy. Regulatory without manufacturing. Manufacturing without claims. Claims without a channel strategy.
I now exist specifically to close that gap. Not as a regulatory consultant. Not as a formulator. Not as a business advisor. As the single person who connects all four — because the path from science to shelf requires all four simultaneously.
I am also a mother (Zen Vin keeps me grounded), a business network regional leader, and someone who genuinely believes that a product built on real science, positioned correctly, and launched with evidence behind it, is the most powerful business moat that exists.

I can identify food profiles and processing methods at 70–95% accuracy through sensory evaluation alone — without instruments. This is not a party trick. It is a skill built across years of hands-on product development that means when I engineer your manufactured product, I can tell when it is wrong before any instrument measures it. For F&B brands trying to scale, this is the difference between a product that tastes like the original and one that clearly came from a factory. Marketing gets trials. Product quality gets repeat purchase. Repeat purchase protects profit.
Not theory. Not templates. Real problems, real science, real outcomes — with the commercial impact to prove it.
A healthcare group had established patient trust and strong clinical credibility — but zero product revenue. Results ended when patients left the clinic. We built an integrated skincare and supplement system with a documented performance pathway — positioned as continuity of care, not a retail product. Formulated around the clinical context, evidence-backed so practitioners could explain the products in the consultation room, and launched as extensions of the treatment protocol rather than items on a shelf.
A soybean product manufacturer had an excellent product that could not survive long enough to reach most retail channels. Below 2 weeks shelf life meant no modern trade, no export, and no scalable distribution. We diagnosed the stability issue at a process level — not a preservative level — and re-engineered the manufacturing approach to extend shelf life to 12+ weeks while preserving the taste profile the brand was built on. Every distribution channel they had been locked out of became accessible within 6 months of project completion.
A sea bird nest brand had a premium ingredient and zero product direction. No formulation, no market positioning, no regulatory pathway, no manufacturing partner. We built the product concept from scratch — selecting the right processing approach, developing the formulation, creating the evidence foundation for claims, and designing a commercialisation pathway that matched the ingredient's premium positioning to the right target channel and price point. Great ingredients become commodities without positioning.
A food service business had revenue entirely capped by team size and operational hours. Every additional ringgit required another hour of labour. We built an ASEAN Flavour product line that could be manufactured, distributed, and sold independently of operational hours — through retail shelves, online marketplaces, and overseas markets. Lane 2 was opened without disrupting Lane 1. Product income now scales through distribution, not headcount. Revenue growth decoupled from people.
Every business I work with is stuck in Lane 1 and trying to find Lane 2. Here is exactly what that transition looks like — and why it is the most important strategic move any service business can make.
"Products do not replace service — they scale it. Build Lane 2 without breaking Lane 1. That is the only growth move that removes the ceiling without adding the headache."
These are not theoretical filings. Each patent represents a real solved problem — a specific technical barrier overcome at bench level and validated by international patent bodies. WIPO Gold Medal 2018 confirms the quality of this body of work.
All patents co-held with Dr. Nicholas Khong Mun Hoe. Filed under MyIPO Malaysia with international coverage. Validated by WIPO Gold Medal 2018, US INPEX Outstanding Award 2017, and Malaysia National IP Gold Award 2018.
This is risk reduction. I do not guess. Every engagement follows a structured methodology that eliminates the expensive mistakes most brands only discover after they have already made them.
"This is risk reduction. We do not guess. We build products that perform consistently and create the proof to support them."
— Dr. Wee Ting Lai · Featured Presentation · Feb 2026If you know someone in one of these situations — make the introduction. Every referral I receive, I treat as a reflection of the person who made it.
Every engagement starts with understanding your specific gap — not a template, not a package. The right scope depends entirely on where you are stuck and what outcome you need.
Not sure which engagement is right? Start with a Gap Analysis Session — a 90-minute deep dive into your product challenge, followed by a written report mapping your market, product, regulatory, and commercial gaps. RM3,000–RM5,000. No commitment to further work required. Many clients find this alone worth more than they paid for it.
